Upclose & Personal  A Pastors Heart

March 9th 2010

Greetings Church Family and Friends!

OK, whatsupp with the snow in the forecast?  Good grief…c’mon spring, get here!  Not that I am all that excited about mowing and edging and stuff, but, I mean, snow?  Oh well, only in the NW!  Sixty degrees one day and sun and 25 degrees and snow the next – ya gotta love it!  Enough of that…how about some news?

Last Sunday….

What an exciting service!  The eight youth baptized and the Winter Camp Report was excellent!  Then it was definitely fun to have almost every chair filled wasn’t it!  If you missed the service you really missed an awesome time.  Thanks to Dolly, Judi, Sue, and so many others for your help after the service with the going away reception for Pastor Sean – great job!  While we are really going to miss Pastor Sean, we will be monitoring his success with the youth of Manhattan and reporting it to everyone.

Men’s Breakfast

Please take note men, breakfast time again on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Judy’s Country Kitchen (Galvin Road past Lincoln Creek Hardware).  We’ll enjoy some good home cooked breakfasts and some good laughter and fellowship together – see ya there!

Time Change

Yes, it is that time again.  This Saturday night “spring” your clocks ahead one hour – you would hate to show up to church late wouldn’t you?!

Spiritual Wellness Challenge

So far so good!  I am hearing some great reports of how the various aspects of the Challenge are blessing those involved. We will have a special treat for you on Sunday morning.  Come and find out what is up our sleeves!

Worship & Communion

This Sunday is the 2nd Sunday night of the month so we will be having a special time of communion, worship and prayer.  These nights are always encouraging and uplifting.

Kim

Beginning on April 1st Kim will become full time here at DCC allowing her more time to devote to our Kid’s Church.  She will also assume responsibilities as secretary of the church so will be a busy gal – we are glad to have her involved!  We just felt that it was about time to make a better investment in the lives of our children and she seemed to be the perfect fit – great things are in store!

Easter

Believe it or not, Easter is just around the corner and we are getting ready to go for it.  We’ve hired a young man to “spiffy” up the place with some paint and minor repairs.  Laura is going to have some new planters with some spring flowers ready to go for the outside.  We will show the movie “Passion of the Christ” on Friday night and on Sunday I will be doing an illustrated sermon entitled “The Whip, the Hammer, and the Cross.”

So, in closing, a few little tidbits…

·         White Chocolate Mochas are the special of the month in the Coffee Connection – only $1!!

·         Mel Steinberg did a great job at Lucille Pease’s memorial service – way to go Mel!

·         Are the Hyltons really moving again?

·         The Healing Rooms are still in operation – every Tuesday night from 7 – 9 p.m. – get there!

·         Congrats to Matt and Ama – a June wedding is planned!

·         Uh, speaking of weddings…Kacie’s Bridal Shower is next Monday, the 15th, in the Outreach Center at 6:00 p.m.

·         Oh, weddings, congrats to Eric Grimes – remember him?  Grad of GTC?  He is engaged also to Jasmine – not sure on the wedding date tho…sorry – stay tuned!

Enough for now…got a busy week – I am looking forward to speaking to our incredible youth tomorrow night – pray for me, OK?

God bless you indeed…your pastor and friend,
